Okay, okay! I know, it's been a while since I've been here. Hence the oxymoronic title, "Interruption of the interruption"! Here's the deal. I've moved all my Bible study posts to a new blog (it's so easy! like taking candy from a baby....oh, wait, that was a '60's song!) called Milton's Bible Study. Catchy title, huh? Anyway, it's at www.miltonbulian-biblestudy.blogspot.com and has all the old stuff and will have some new stuff, soon.
Meanwhile, this site will be devoted to true blog-like "musings," personal thoughts on ministry and Christian behavior. It just seemed the right thing to do. I needed a venue to present evidence that the ideas presented in the Bible studies really work.
Here's an example: in the series on Vision for Ministry, I talk about how the 5 levels of involvement work, and how at the fifth level is where one receives their own vision. It's centered around the five-fold ministry, which I believe is not related to positions but to function. Thus, when my 6-year-old granddaughter (!) received a vision for a ministry to some homeless people in her neighborhood, she qualified! Now, you can argue and debate all day long about how that works, but the bottom line is what are you doing? I mean, she sat us down (me, my wife, her parents, and her 4-year-old sister) and had a "board" meeting to lay out what we were going to do and how we were going to do it. She ran the meeting! Yeah, we helped, but we only pointed out certain issues that we felt needed to be addressed. We never dictated to her or overruled her. This was her vision!
If you need further research in this area for confirmation of what I'm saying, I strongly recommend you get the book Is That Really You, God? by Loren Cunningham, the founder of Youth With A Mission (YWAM), an internationally famous ministry, and see how God birthed the vision in him that has become a worldwide ministry with several ships available for relief work and evangelism around the world. Check it out!
